KEYS TO RELEASING YOUR FAITH
John Jacobson, Assistant Pastor

Jesus promises that whoever seeks Him will find Him (Luke 11:9-10). Yet His promises are conditional upon us. Whether you are a new Believer or are finding that one of the principles of God’s Word just doesn't seem to be working for you, these basic principles will lead you to spiritual health!

1. First of all make sure that God is your Father. The only promise an unsaved person can claim from the Bible is Salvation—that if they repent and ask Jesus to save them, He WILL. Then faith begins to work, and the rest of God’s promises become available to you. Regardless of your religious background (whether you grew up in Church or never heard the name of Jesus), make sure you have fulfilled Romans 10:9-10.

2. Be sure you are walking daily in repentance - there is no sin in your life that you haven't dealt with (1Jn 1:8-9). As soon as you repent, God forgives you, and makes you Righteous. And James 5:16 says that the prayer of the Righteous accomplishes much!

3. Turn from any unforgiveness in your life - toward ANYONE. God is clear that if you don't forgive, He can't forgive you (Mat 6:14-15). And if He can't forgive you, not only will faith NOT work (because faith works by love - Gal 5:6) but that sin will separate you from God (Isaiah 59:2).

4. Make sure you are not walking under a curse for robbing God (be sure you are a tither -Mal 3:8-12).

5. Be sure you are serving God where He has planted you in a local church (2 Cor 12:18; Eph 4:11-12) under the covering of an anointed pastor. There is no substitute for discussing and praying over your questions with your pastor or the ministers in your church.

6. Dig out the scriptures in the areas where you are exercising faith. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. If you find yourself unsure of your faith, it's a symptom that you need more WORD, which produces more FAITH. Meditate on it and speak it out loud. Faith is released by the tongue (too many references to write here - Lu 6:45; Prov 18:20-21; Mk 11:23 to mention just a few).

7. Listen to the voice of God. Start your day in prayer and Bible reading. Expect God to talk to you.

8. Surround yourself with anointed praise & worship music. Enter into the presence of God and worship Him. (Psalms 100)

9. Be an active member in a home Care Group where you have the strength and support of other Christian friends. Call 956-412-5600 Ext. 121 to connect with a nearby group.

10. Put on the armor of God and then, having done all - stand: Eph 6:11-18. Remember that faith is only needed UNTIL you see the promise of God manifested (Heb 6:12; 10:36).
